Content Warnings 1. Systemic bigotry
This third book in the trilogy follows the narrator as she travels into a dystopian neighboring city on the planet: the eugenicist dictatorship mentioned in the previous book.
There are many scenes where the narrator struggles with hiding her identity in a eugenicist regime where anyone known to be disabled, or even just genetically different, would be killed or forcibly cured.
Meanwhile, back at home, there are scenes where a villain makes derogatory statements against disabled people, and deliberately sabotages their communication accommodations as part of his attempt to bring back the dictatorship.
There are discussions of the racism and classism of law enforcement under that previous regime, and the ways in which it affected a character's family.
